Mud And Tent Ropes Take Their Toll
23 Jun 2004Errant guide ropes and slippery mud patches have taken their toll on Glastonbury’s festival faithful as the injury tally reaches almost 150.
Happily the mounting number of ‘slips and trips’ – including 40 last night – has so far not resulted in any serious injuries, with all the crocked revellers treated on-site.
This morning (Thursday) the ambulance service also reported that all was quiet, with only one call-out on the festival site itself.
But service spokesman Catherine Ferguson warned Glastonbury campers who did need to dial 999 to give as much information as possible to help ambulances navigate the vast maze of tents.
“Every year it is a problem,” she said. “We need people to give as much information as they can and not to switch off their mobile after making the call.
“They should also make sure there is someone who is looking out for the ambulance.”
