Cheese To Change The World

12 May 2003

FANCY a taste of the festival all year round? Well, just pop into your local Sainsbury's and check out a new arrival on the dairy counter . . .

Glastonbury Festival Mature Cheddar doesn't just taste good it will help make you feel good too because ten pence for every kilo sold goes to WaterAid, the international charity which provides safe water for impoverished communities and saves countless lives by doing so.

The 12-month-old cheese is made using traditional natural cheese cultures to produce the authentic taste of real Cheddar.

The milk used to make it comes from Worthy Farm, the home of the festival, and other local farms.

The cheese is made by the Barber family, who have been cheesemakers for over a century in the neighbouring village of Ditcheat, and are acknowledged as one of the best producers in the country.

Currently, the cheese is available in 180 Sainsbury's stores in the Midlands and South of England and it's hoped that, as sales increase, significant contributions can be made to WaterAid as other retailers agree to stock the product.
