2005 Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza Confirmed
25 Nov 2004Michael Eavis has announced that next year's Musical Extravaganza weekend will be held in the grounds of Glastonbury Abbey on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7, 2005.
In response to popular request, he has arranged that gift vouchers will go on sale this week in time to purchase them as Christmas presents. These vouchers can later be exchanged for tickets for either of the two concerts.
On the Saturday, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has been confirmed and will be all out to exceed their 2004 spectacle. A final decision is yet to be made as to who can better the entertainment provided at this year's Extravaganza, but one or two mouth-watering options are under consideration!
The 2004 Extravaganza was perfect; the weather was fantastic; even the sunset excelled; the crowds were great, and the performances wonderful. Van Morrison performed from his extensive songbook; The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra provided stunning entertainment accompanied by water fountains, giant screens and the now famous fireworks; Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra - accompanied by the amazing Sam Brown and Ruby Turner - had the time of their lives, and turned Sunday evening into one massive party for all to enjoy.
Vouchers for 2005 still to be unveiled weekend of musical thrills are on sale now, priced £25, from Glastonbury Festival Office - 01458 834596 - as well as from Tourist Information Centres in Glastonbury, Street, Wells and Shepton Mallet, not to mention the Glastonbury Abbey Shop. The vouchers do not have to be exchanged until Sunday's line up is finalised.
