What does Radio 1’s Nemone describe as some of her festival highlights?
07 Jun 2004Everyone who’s been to Glastonbury Festival will almost always give you a different answer if you ask them what their favourite part of the event was.
Chances are however, that for every 10 people you ask, at least one person will reply that it was the late night partying sessions provided courtesy of the Radio 1 Dance Stage. We caught up for a quick chat with with Radio 1’s Nemone to find out what it is about the festival that keeps them coming back:
“First of all, Glastonbury has a VERY good atmosphere, there’s just nothing else like it!
The second thing is that Glastonbury has an effect on people like you just don’t ever see anywhere else and its also getting pretty well known for making or breaking careers: Everyone has been desperate to see The Darkness since their Glastonbury 2003 performance, and I think that was the gig that really did it for them - they had so much hype to live up to but when they played on the Pyramid Stage, they really did deliver!
I was lucky enough to do a show with John Peel at Glastonbury 2003 and for me that was a definite highlight of my summer because the man is Mr Glastonbury! I also saw Har Mar Superstar do his DJ-cum-manumission babe performance on the Friday, which was a great way to start the festival, and I know that lots of people have said it, but Glastonbury 2003 was a really GREAT weekend and it just goes to show that you can have lots of security elements in place and still have a really good time.”
You can hear Nemone Monday - Friday, 4-7am on 97-99FM, BBC Radio 1.
(Good luck Nemone with your 400m Olympics training!)
