Kurt Jackson Auction
09 Oct 2003Away from Somerset, the Festival also helped WaterAid with further
fundraising. In March an auction of paintings by Kurt Jackson at the
Newsroom (The Guardian archive centre) raised over £20,000. Kurt (one of
Britain's leading painters and official artist of the Glastonbury Festival
of Contemporary Arts since 1999) auctioned 16 stunning, dynamic watercolours
of the Festival's main acts from the 2000 and 2002 Festivals - and donated
all proceeds to WaterAid. The top seller was a painting of Coldplay, closely
followed by a painting of the Glastonbury stone circle and paintings of Moby
and the Dandy Warhols. A toilet seat autographed by various bands was also
bought for £1000
