Rehabilitacion Planetaria
28 Jun 2003Huayqui Oceano set up the Centre for Holistic Ecology in Peru to mobilize groups of people in the Amazon in Peru and several organisations and governments around the world. Last year was his first festival and he was pleased to have been invited back this year.
Huayqui comes from high in the Peruvian mountains in Amazon territory, a region with lots of micro-climate activity that supports many species of life. In recent years they’ve been under attack from petrochemical industries. Obviously when people are killed in this genocide, this information usually doesn’t even register here in the western world.
He says that out in the forest it is easy to mobilise people, just explain things to people and they get on with efficiently doing as much as they can. Their very survival nowadays depends on their success in countering the free-market justified genocide. Their insistent enemies are government paramilitaries. Native Peruvians are simply people living in the woods man… is this fair, just, civilized?
Huayqui makes good sandals for £25, solidly hand constructed wood and ivory massage tools for £12, jewellery, space clearing incense, information, and friendly reality memories, opposite ID Spiral in the Green Fields.
