 Trash's Place
|
Give me trash, trash and more trash - or Trash, should I say, with a capital T, because Trash, today, is the name of a very lovely person who has admirably placed herself on, below, behind and in front of the Dance, Variety and Fire stage in the theatre field since Thursday. She does the warm up bit, the filling in bit, the diplomatic mission bit, the smoothing over the cracks and placating the sound/light/backstage crew bit and loves all of it -especially, she says, the crowds.

I don't think the DVF stage is the best-placed place in the festival. I couldn't even find it when I first arrived and I was standing right next to it. It's not small, it's just at a funny angle and can really only be seen from the front if you're coming out of the kids field or coming in at C gate. I insist you all find it. I have seen some of the best pieces of dance and theatre here, all innovative, energising, moving or just plain good. And in between all of that you have Trash, the new age poet from London; a natural performer who emanates charm, good humour and the kind of confidence only achieved by the truly talented.
When I met her she said she was a bit knackered but I had just watched her perform and she had managed to hide her fatigue completely. In fact she is one of those annoying people who always looks like they've just had a great night's sleep. I remember her from festival 2000. She always does Glastonbury. She says it is her pleasure and the Saturday night DVF party makes everything more than worthwhile.
If you want to find out where she performs on the other 362 days of the year, visit her website; www.trashsplace.com
